Kerala Fish Curry


Fish is a favorite food in some parts of Kerala. Many recipes are made, with different kinds of fish. The other day I made this dish. This is a very common dish in Kerala. When you lay your hands on some big fish, this is what you make. I have seen this dish made , from my childhood. Here, I am presenting this dish for those of you, who may not have come across this recipe.



What We Need
  • Fish - 1/2 Kg
  • Mustard - 1/2 Tea Spoon
  • Fenu Greek Seeds - 1/2 Tea Spoon
  • Curry Leaves - 1/4 Cup
  • Sambar Onions - 1/2 Cup (Whole)
  • Ginger - Garlic Paste - 3 Tea Spoon
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 Tea Spoon
  • Chilli Powder - 5 Tea Spoon
  • Coriander Powder - 3 Tea Spoon
  • Kudam Puli Extract (Camboge) - 1/2 Cup
  • Oil - 6 Table Spoon
  • Salt - To Taste
Method
  1. For Kerala Fish Curry people usually use Kudam Puli.
  2. Take 4 or 5 pieces of  Kudam Puli, soak it in one glass of water and 1/2 tea spoon of salt.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, seasoning with mustard seeds and fenu greek seeds.
  4. Add curry leaves and sambar onions, saute it.
  5. Add ginger - garlic paste saute well.
  6. Now lower the flame then add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and saute it.
  7. Add kudam puli and its water.
  8. Also add one cup of water and necessary salt.
  9. Let the curry get boiled, then add fish pieces and cover it.
  10. Cook for around 15 to 20 minutes.
  11. Kerala Fish curry is ready.
